Dalhousie University SKU UPC Model
Dalhousie as a whole is a HUGE University so I never really felt like I was a part of it, only of my own faculty. Some of the buildings at Dal are so old and ugly, I could not believe I was paying so much money to attend such a dumpy place!! And the money….....oh, the money…..my first degree at UPEI was approx. $3000/year and when I left Dal, my tuition was up past $10,000. The education I received was excellent and I would highly recommend the CoP, but Dal itself holds little bang for its buck. However, HALIFAX IS AWESOME!!! I still cry sometimes that I am not there!!
I lived off-campus at Dalhousie and I worked a lot to help pay for tuition, so I didn't become very integrated in campus life. My major was in Political Science, which I was extremely passionate about so I spent a lot of time in Dal's excellent libraries and online records, and I had the opportunity to study under some really great Profs who were leaders in the field. Halifax is a great city, easy to get around, great transit, and very safe. There's lots of off-campus housing and plenty of part-time work to go around. The music scene was a large part of what drew me to Halifax, and I saw some awesome local bands. I think that Dalhousie is a great school, and like any other school, you'll get back what you put into it. I was focused on academics and I feel like the school prepped me for my career. I had friends who really wanted to be involved in campus life and student government, and they worked at it and did fantastic jobs on the Student Union. There's lots to participate in extracurricularly, so dive in to what you're passionate about! College of Pharmacy (CoP)
